Dear Mr. Kilby,
Thanks so much for responding to my query about Mr. Bourne. I'm a historian in Stafford and work primarily with land tracts, mills, and industries here. On Aug. 23, 1899 Elvira Green sold a tract of land to John B. Bourne. This was in two parcels, one of which was the old Berry Hill farm (232 acres) that had, during the 18th century, belonged to Thomas Ludwell Lee. Mr. Bourne was still in possession of the property when he died and, according to directions in his will, his executor was to sell the property and divide the proceeds between his children.
I've done a fair amount of research on the early history of this farm and have been able to bring it down to Mr. Bourne's ownership. I would like to include a bit of biographical information on Mr. Bourne and his wife and what happened to the farm after their passing. This could include the names of their parents, their occupations, what, if anything they called the farm while they owned it, etc. The Berry Hill article will be published in a book on Stafford history that I hope to have to the publisher by the end of this year. If there is anything you would like me to include about this family I will be very happy to do so.
Thanks so much,
