William Wirt Brumfield, Jr. (1 828 - Unknown) - William Wirt Brumfield, Jr. was born in 1 828 in Virginia, the son of William Wirt Brumfield and Eleanor ... It seems that Cephas is the son of Milton D. Brumfield (Son of Allen T. Brumfield). His name was James Cephas (called "Jocephas") Brumfield. He married in first wife, Cora, in 1897 and she died shortly after the marriage. He then married Narcissus Harvey ("Sissie")around 1898. He moved the family to Indiana and then to Ohio, settling in Cincinnati. He was a big man (over 6' tall), while Sissie was less than 5'. Cephas was a nigh watchman. He later wanted a divorce from Sissie, but she would not consent. So he moved in and lived with Julie Staley in Cincinnati. He later took her last name and called himself Jocephas Staley. Sissie passed away in April 1959 at the Avon Rest Home. She was buried at Greenlawn Cemetery in Milford OH. Sissie and Cephas had 7 children: Mary, Inez Marie, Ona, Charles, Clyde, Herman (twin) and Thurman A (twin). You might want to research under Jocephas or Cephas Staley to find out what happened to him.
