Hi. I was at the Mercer Co., PA, Historical Society this week looking for Canans. There are a ton of Johns and some James, wills and deeds. I couldn't connect any up with my line, just because of lack of info. The James that had a guardian appointed in 1819 is probably mine, as the one I'm looking for had a wife born in 1814. But there were early ones, Moses, and Erasmus, etc. And there are a couple newspaper articles in the New Castle Library's files from more like 1875. I'm giving up for now cause this is only an allied line and I want to stick to my upteen main lines, and the guardianship papers for the James I think is mine, which might mention who the deceased parents are!, are misfiled!!! They are gradually going through their old records and trying to straighten them out (at the courthouse Register of Wills) so I told them I'd check back in a year or so. These were in Mercer Co., PA, but really in what is now (since 1849) Lawrence Co. mostly, in Shenango Twp., West Middlesex, and I think Mahoning Twp., Law. Co., PA. Good luck. |
