This post is partly supposition, but it has been gathered in conjunction with several other researchers who feel, as I do, that it is *probably* correct. Barber Cardner, b. 1785 in Washington County, RI, is believed to be the son of Ephraim Cardner/Codner and Peace Barber. Barber married Mary (Polly) Burdick, daughter of Stephen and Mary Church Burdick. We know he and Polly were in DeRuyter, Madison County, NY from about 1835 to 1855, as per the 1855 census. The 1820 census of Truxton, Cortland, NY, indicates at least 7 children for Barber and Polly. This is a list of *possible* children, some of which we feel quite confident about. Would love some input on this list. Johnson's book about the Burdick family lists only 3, but this was from the 1855 census, when most of the children were out of the home. Barber J. Cardner, b. 1809, Truxton, NY(shown next door to Barber on the 1830 census) Ephraim N. Cardner b. 1812, NY Stephen B. Cardner b. 1815,, NY Matthew L. Cardner, b. 1818, NY Kendall Cardner b. 1821, NY (lawyer) Anna M. Cardner, b. 1823, NY A grandson, Stephen F. Cardner, lived with them in 1855. He was born 1841. There is one Cardner I am confused about. There is an Edson D. Cardner, NY, b. 1830. Edson is definitely a family name well into the 1900's. The 1830 date indicates that he could have been a child of Barber J., as well. Please contact with ideas or more family. Sydney (female version of name)Cardner
