The National Archives records list him variously as Amzi, Amzy and Emzy. Company E, TN (CSA) 10th Cavalry. Searching Ancestry.com, the 1850 US Census lists him in the household of John & Lucy Brown in Humphreys,TN. His age was given as 30, so his birthdate was estimated as 1820. The 1870 Census lists him in the same location, District 3, at age 42, so they estimate his birth as circa 1828. With him were Sarah S. 24, Charles L. 14, Calvin S. 12, and Bessie B. 3/12. No Ancestry listing for his service in the War Between the States.
