Looking for descendants or researchers of the COCHRANE family: James COCHRANE b.1786, Renfrewshire m Isobel CHAPMAN b.1789, Lanarkshire(of Robert CHAPMAN & Isobel KIRKWOOD) Children (all born in Abbey (Paisley) Renfrewshire: Marion 1829 (married Thomas DEMPSTER) Janet (married Allan McNEIL) James (married Jean ANDERSON) James COCHRANE (1786) was a spirit dealer. Isobel and the children (and their partners) came to Australia in 1854 aboard 'Herald of the Morning'. They settled mostly in the Kyneton, Coghills Creek and Redesdale district. Names connected to the children are: LAMOUR, GROSE, ROBINSON, ARCHIBALD.
