(2) Jemima -- (see previous)        8. Joseph Cockerham Sr. b. 1809 d. >1870 in Ashe County, N.C. (Earline Aaberg says he was alive 1870 census Allegheny Co. NC               m. (1) Elizabeth --               1. Joseph Cockerham Jr. , served in civil war b. ca 1832               m (2) Elizabeth Isom 1842 (widow of Johnston Pool) b. 1809 VA She and Johnston had three children: John, Charlotte and James Pool. Elizabeth was living with son Hugh on 1880 census from Allegheny Co. NC 1. Spencer Cockerham b. 26 Dec 1842 Ashe Co. NC d. 4 May 1924               Hamburg, Fremont Co., Iowa, served in Civil War                      m. Sarah South in Allegheny Co. NC. 1865 She was daughter                             of James/John? South and Nancy Edwards. Sarah b.                             Mar 1850 d. 1908 Hamburg, Iowa. This couple had                             fifteen children. Earline says the first four did not live                             to adulthood.
