I am a descendent of Francis Cockerham Stroud (b 1850 Fayette Co., AL) who appears to be the daughter of John and Dorcas (?) Cockerham. He was born about 1820 in SC and she was apparantly 1st wife born in MS about 1828. THeay appear to have had several children (Rufus, William D., Mary, Elaine..all born before Francis (my gggrandmother and who I bear a stricking resemblance to..hence my interest). They lived in MIllport at least the mid 1870s when they moved to Izard Co., Arkansas. Dorcas appears to have died sometime around 1855 and John remarried a Mary A. ? b 1832 AL and had at least 8 more kids with her, including one at age 58. Anyone know anything about the SC branch of the Cockerhams? Also, I married a fella from Grant parish, LA. And Ive been looking in his BUsby/Richards/Futrell, ETC tree and know about the Cockerhams in Winn Parish, etc. If anyone needs pics of any cemetary stones, etc...I would love to swap out help...
