I have noticed quite a bit of correspondence in regard to Joseph A. Conder who married a Polly Travis?
My paternal great-grandfather was a Joseph A. Conder who married a Mary Ann (Polly) Hazel, granddaughter of the Caleb Hazel, Sr. of Hardin County, Kentucky, who was Abraham Lincoln's second teacher. They were married in Monroe County, Indiana (Bloomington) and Polly died in Dongola, Union County, Illinois in I888. Joseph moved to Bollinger County, Missouri where he remarried but died in 1902. His parents were David Conder (1789-1864) and Mary (Alsey or "Polly") Applegate whose parents were Stacy Applegate (DAR) and Mary McClayne.
Mary Applegate, Joseph's mother, had a brother Joseph who married a Jane Stewart and they lived in West Point, Kentucky. Could they have been the grandparents of your Joseph Conder. My ggrandfather David had a brother George Conder who was married to an Abigail Casey and their descendants moved to Daviess County, Kentucky. Could there have been a connection?
