Hope I bet i'll raise hair up on a few arms about this message. In 1985 I bought land on the Original Natchez Trace, that travels real close to the Town of Pontotoc. I was checking about the history of the tract of land I owned. When I seen David Crockett; it caught my attention. I found David Crockett had a horse corral, and sold and traded horses. It appears he wasn't much of a family man, husband, or a honest man. He stayed drunk most time, and at his corral where he stayed it was a tavern, I think it was attached or close to Samuel Watts place he stayed. The winter before; the weather was bad, and luckily a famous writer was staying there until the weather got better. He was a city slicker and drinked with David; the more they drinked the bigger the tales, the writer was facinated with all the lies. The writer would get up early aand get in the bar to wait for David. They said, Davy was a big liar and bostiful person, and impossible when drunk. The writer didn't have anything to write about-so he wrote about David Crockett. David left Pontotoc,Ms. Oct.8,1835 to the Alamo. The writer made this person real famous' not because of government buisness, or dying at the Alamo; just staying drunk and telling big yarns.
