My Husband's family is said to be related to the Crockett Family through Minerva Jane (Thompson) Williams born in Tenn. I could only find a Minerva Jane Johnson that married a Crockett and then he divorced her and married someone else. I don't know if she was possibly Minerva Jane (Thompson) Williams's Mom. Minerva Jane (Thompson) Williams was married to a William Washingon in 1850's - I heard that William Washington was possibly a Indian slave that was set free and given the name of his owner of Washington. All their children were given the mothers maiden name of Williams because he was Indian. I don't know how many children that had but they had one son named Guinn Terrell Williams (1871 - 1948). He became a Texas congressman. He had a son named Guinn 'Big Boy' Williams (1899 -1962) who was in alot of movies with John Wayne. He also had a daughter named Lucile Williams and a daughter name Minnie Lee Williams. Lucile Williams married someone named Andrews. She had four children, Lorane b. 1918, Bryon, William, & Lucile. She got divorced from Mr. Andrews and went back to live with her dad around 1920's and the children were raised by their mom and their grandfather, Guinn Terrell Williams. The children were never told much about ther father except that he was a good for nothing and that they had his last name of Andrews. My husband is the son of Lorane Andrews b in 1918 in Texas. The story handed down is that their family related to David Crocket through his great great great grand-mother Minerva Jane (Thompson) Williams. Another story of interest is that through the David Crockett line he is somehow distantly related to President Andrew Jackson Jr 17th president of the United States (1767 - 1845). President Andrew Jackson Jr never had any children of his own but the lineage is through one of President Andrew Jackson's cousins. That is why so many of the Crocketts named their son's Andrew Jackson after President Andrew Jackson their distant relative. Has anyone here has any more information on Minerva Jane (Thompson) Williams or the David Crockett line being distantly related to President Andrew Jackson please reply. |
