My father's great-aunt was Elizabeth Ann (Gardiner) DeVaughn of Dufries, VA, b. 1850/51 MD (Prob. Baltimore) d/o James and Anne Jane (Torance) Gardiner. The family moved from Baltimore to DC by 1855/56 . In the 1860 census they are in the 6th ward 825/846. Elizabeth's siblings were Samuel Lewis Gardiner (1856DC-1908DC)of DC and Alice Flora (Gardiner)Wenchel (1859/60DC-?)who lived in Baltimore. James and Samuel are buried in a family plot at Congressional Cem, DC.
