Good morning Several of the DOWNER and DUNHAM descendants have expressed interest in meeting in the fall of 2009 in the Bennington VT area. It would give us all an opportunity to meet, share information and memories, as well as see the area where our ancestors lived. The site of the Battle of Bennington and the Bennington Monument and the home County of John (1744-1815) and Lydia DUNHAM DOWNER (1757-1815), daughter of Obadiah DUNHAM, of Pownal, Bennington County, VT. We are hoping to interest others in joining us in an informal reunion of sorts. The area is absolutely beautiful in the Green Mountains of Vermont. Adjacent to Williamstown MA, which is home of the much respected Clark Art Institute and North Adams, MA which is now home to MOCA the Modern Art Museum. Both are definitely worth your time. There are a number of good restaurants in the area. While there is no "plan" at present I have volunteered to keep a list of those interested and as time draws nearer we can cement a timeframe, provide an accomodation list, etc.... All thoughts are welcome and encouraged as this is just in the thinking stage. Jan Wadoski , Bill Downer and I are looking forward to hearing from you.
