The Saint Charles (Illinois) Review, April 11, 1879 Mrs. Susan E. Downer, well known in and about St. Charles, and for many years a citizen of the old town, died at her residence, Wednesday morning last, aged fifty seven years and one day. Mrs. Downer was born in Genesee county, N.Y. in 1822, and came to St. Charles in 1848. The disease which took her from our midst to the hereafter was typhoid pneumonia. She was of generous disposition and was by those who associated with her intimately, and who knew her best, esteemed, and by them will her memory be held in respect. The funeral occurred from the late residence of deceased, Thursday, at two o'clock. ------ This newspaper item posted as a courtesy.
