Well I visited Scotland and in the graveyard of the old Kirk in Temple scotland I found the gravestone of my gggg grandfather Alexander Drysdale. It gave me his age (75) and date of death (March 1, 1818). There is only one Drysdale born in Alloa (Clackmannan) in 1743 but that Drysdale baby's first name is not listed. He is a son of a John Drysdale who could well be the JOhn in your tree born in 1718 son of Alexander and Christian Donaldson. This John's wife was Margerat Mitchel and their Children inorder were:
Janet (b. 1737), Margaret (b. 1741), Unknown (b. 1743) and James (b. 1746). The names are very consistant with name order in the prior generations.

My GGGG Grandfathers, Alexander Drysdale's, children were:

John (B. Tillicoultry, 1785, Ann(b. 1788 Dunfermline), James (b. 1790 Dunfermline) and William (b. 1796 Cranston) and there is another daughter Isabella born 1793.

It is very tantilizing that the nameless child born to John Margaret might be Alexander.
