Thanks Davis; Scottish naming conventions are/were a little strange. My father-in-law's brother was married to an "Anne" who went by "Nan." I understand her legal name really was Anne, and definately not Nancy. My father-in-law was married to an Agnes (my wife's mother). So far as I know, Agnes didn't go by any other name. But of course, her daughter was Anne. So go figure. You raise some interesting points and I'll need to look more into in Agnes' family. :-)) -Peter |
