1850 census for colleton county, sc, shows: family 450 jane langdale 49 f mary 24 f eliz th? 22 f caroline 21 f jno (john) 18 m anne? 16 f saml h 12 m margaret 10 f jno willis 9 m family 451 marmaduke langdale 30 m margaret 20 f marmaduke 2 m laura 9/12? f 1860 census for colleton county, sc, shows: family 859 jane langdale 62 f caroline j? 28 f anne 26 f jeramiah? 22 m margaret 20 f john 18 m family 860 j w m langdale 36 m margaret 30 f j w m 11 m j c 9 m julia ?? l 10 f humphrey 6 m a h o? 5 m charles s??? 2 m margaret h 1 f family 861 wm h harris 32 m elizth c 33 f william 6 m jane 10 f i suspect that family 861 / 1860 colleton county, sc, is william h harris, elizabeth c langdale harris, john william harris, & jane harris...and that elizabeth c langdale harris is the elizabeth langdale, age 22, family 450 / 1850 colleton county, sc, daughter of jane langdale, age 49... the harris family rumor i have been told is that william h harris returned from the civil war to find his wife & daughter dead - possibly murdered during the war...he & his son then migrated to polk/sumter/lake county, florida... i also suspect that this william h harris is oldest son of william & celia roberts harris, on 1850 census colleton county, sc, with william's mother, p harris...william & celia harris' family & costine family migrated to polk county, florida - 1870 census... does anyone have any additional information on the family of jane langdale - family 450 / 1850 census & family 859 / 1860 - census for colleton county, sc??? info at the lds site shows john c langdale married to jane, with these children...info on family trees at ancestry.com shows jane's maiden name as guthrie... would appreciate any additional info you could share that would confirm marriage of elizabeth c langdale to william h harris, as well as their children... the death certificate of my great grandfather, john william harris, born 8 may 1855, in south carolina, died 7 nov 1918, in pasco county, florida, buried in dukes cemetery, groveland, lake county, florida - states his father: william harris, born south carolina & his mother: (unknown) langdale, born south caolina... thank you for your time & assistance!!!
