I am not related. Alfred F. Smith and Sarah A. Eason were married 3 Febuary 1884 in Carroll County, Georgia. Carroll County Marriage Book F:205. Her race is given as white. (1). Susan A. Smith died 3 January, Carroll County, Georgia, age 73. (2). Georgia death certificates give the father's name and mother's maiden name if the certificate informant provides the information. You should get a copy, as it provides other genealogical information. See http://health.state.ga.us/programs/vitalrecords/death.asp for details on ordering the certificate. Both husband and wife are buried at the Indian Creek Missionary Baptist Church in western Carroll County. Inscriptions: Smith, A.F. 1865-1901; Smith, S.A. 1868-1941. (3). The death certificate for Sarah should confirm the place of burial. The following appear to be her parents. 1870 Census, Carroll County, Georgia (abstract). Eason, William, 29, male, white, GA Eason, Rachel, 28, female, white, AL Eason, John, 6, male, white, GA Eason, James, 5, male, white, GA Eason, Sarah, 2, female, white, GA Eason, Peter, 11/12, male, white, GA (4) 1880 Census, Carroll County, Georgia (abstract) Eason, William, m, white, male, 40, GA Eason, Rachael, m, white, male, 39, wife, GA Eason, John W., s, white, male, 16, son, GA Eason, James E, s, white, male, 15, son, GA Eason, Sarah A.,s, white, female, 12, dau, GA Eason, Peter T.,s, white, male, 10, son, GA Eason, George W., s, white, male, 8, son, GA Eason, Nancy J., s, white, female, 6, dau, GA Eason, Elbert A., s, white, male, 5, son, GA Eason, Jasper D., s, white, male, 2, son, GA Eason, Henry H., s, white, male, 4/12, son, GA Johnson, John, w/d, white, male, 80, f-in-l, GA (5) William Eason and Rachael M. Johnson were married 14 July 1863 in Carroll County, Georgia. Carroll County Marriage Book C:537. (1). William and Rachael M. Eason are buried at the Indian Creek Missionary Baptist Church in western Carroll County. Inscriptions: William Eason 1840-June 12, 1880 (that is one day after the 1880 census enumeration). Rachael M. Eason May 12, 1841-Aug 23, 1911. (3) With regard to the family tradition that Sarah Eason Smith was of Native American descent, in all the records that indicate race, she is shown as white. The same is true for her apparent parents. It is possible that she had some Native American "blood" but not "full blood." Sources: (1) Fagg, Jenny Martin, compiler. Index to Marriage Licenses Carroll County, Georgia 1827-1980.
