I am searching for information (and the grave) of my great aunt, Elizabeth "Bettie" Reeves Melvin. Elizabeth was born ca. 1856 to Thomas Jefferson "Jeff" Reeves and Mary Buckner Reeves of Taylor and Talbot Counties, GA. I found a marriage license in Taylor County, GA. on Charles Melvin and Bettie Reaves (Reeves) dated 11/15/1883. On the 1880 census of Taylor Co., GA., Elizabeth, (age 24) is in the home with her mother, Mary Reeves (age 51). On the 1900 census of Taylor County, Elizabeth (age 38) and widowed, is in the home with her mother, Mary Reeves, age 74. There are two children listed as grandchildren of Mary Reeves; Ella, age 6 and Mary, age 13. Charles Reeves apparently died sometime between 1894 and 1900. I assume Elizabeth Reeves Melvin probably married again. Elizabeth "Bettie" Reeves' other siblings were: John Reeves, b. ca. 1852; Wiley Buckner Reeves, b. ca. 1858, married Martha "Mattie" Byers; Martha Dranny Reeves, b. 11/30/1860 (married Sam Byers); Ed Reeves, b. 9/6/1863, (married Linnie Vann).
