I have never asked for a lookup before as I have done most of my own work, but I am desperate. I would love for someone who has more resources than I to help me locate a marriage that I feel certain took place in Georgia. It is the marriage of William (Will, Wily, Wile) Garrett and Mary Catherine O'Kelley (O'Kelly). I know very little about Will, not even a birthdate or location. Mary was born in GA in 1861. With the timing of the missing 1890 census records, no census record of Will and Mary are available to offer any help either. Their first known living child was born 1887 in GA. A second child was born in 1890 in Catoosa Co, GA. A third child was born 1894 in GA, then their fourth child was born in 1897 in Roane Co, TN. In a newspaper article in 1897 discussing the shooting and death of Will while living in TN, it was noted that he was a "Georgia man". After remarrying while in TN and giving birth to three more children, a census record states that only 7 of Mary's 12 children were living. Those 7 children are the only known children, so if Mary Catherine were to have lost 5 children before the birth of her first known one, William and Mary could have been married several years before the approximate marriage date of about 1885-1886 as I had been thinking all along, maybe even before 1880. I have info on the O'Kelleys, however, absolutely nothing about the Garretts. Some O'Kelley family relatives have been located in Georgia counties such Walton, Hall, and White. There were a number of Garretts in Walton as well. The Catoosa County connection is noted. Mary had a brother that was also buried in Catoosa County. Mary herself is buried in Walker County. Since I know so little about where these two actually came from, especially Will, I would certainly appreciate any help anyone could offer. Thanks so much, Lona Brannon
