The GOING name has always been a mystery in my family and I would like to solve that mystery!!!
My mother's family name was TALBOT and her grandfather Alexander William TALBOT came from Co Tipperary, born ca 1823. His mother's maiden name was LANGLEY. He went to India and married my Great Grandmother in 1853. My great-grandmother's maiden name was WOLLASTON and they originaly came from West Wickham, Cambridge, England. My great-grandfather and great-grandmother migrated to Australia in 1856 and my grandfather was born in New South Wales in 1859. He married my grandmother in 1881 and there were seven children of the marriage. EVERY one of the seven had the given name GOING. My mother for example was Collen Rose GOING Talbot, one of my Uncles was Alexander William GOING Talbot and so on.
I have traced the Wollastons and there is no mention of any GOINGs in their line; I have yet to trace the EDWARDS family (my grandmother's family) so I suspect the GOING name came from the Talbot side.
Anyone got any ideas?
Regards to you all,
