Ernie, Glad you had no difficulty finding Union Grove Cem. Just last Oct. there was a nice road sign for Coon Hollow Road. Maybe a vehicle knocked it down since then.

You mentioned your direct ancestors not having markers. Most of mine didn't either; however, about 35 years ago my aunt and I visited Union Grove Cemetery when there were several old field stone markers on the Guffey plot. I do remember also seeing the engraved markers of my great grandparents, John Isaac Guffey and Mary Jane Brown Guffey and a single, long-low, flat marker which had then recently been placed for John Isaac's parents, Smith GUFFEY & Jemima Simpson GUFFEY, and two other old engraved markers. Aunt Edith told me who those buried by the field stones were as it had been told to her. On an old brown paper bag which I had in the car, I drew a rough sketch naming those graves. I saved that sketch and now we're putting new memorials there, even a large new one for Smith & Jemima Simpson Guffey as you saw at the foot of their graves leaving the original long-low, flat marker as the head stone. On a couple of the unmarked grave sites, we plan to place other Memorials for early, deceased family members even though we're not certain where they are buried or who is buried in those graves. At least their names and dates will be recorded appropriately on the Guffey plot. I'm pleased to learn you thought the monuments looked great. Thanks.
