Eugenia, I have just come across your posting re: John W. Exum 1846-1868. He was the brother of my great grandfather, Alexander J. Exum 1843-1906 who married Elizabeth Smith. I have a list of the children of John W. & Nancy Heas-Eugene, Lou, Charles, Mary, Lucy, Martha, Wm. R., John and Nancy L. I do have info from Richard Axum down through my family. Maybe we could compare info. Bud Exum (who has posted on Ancestry and a cousin I have met thru the net) is also a descendant of John W.
