Looking at the early Maryland records, the given name of the wife of John Higdon of early Maryland has been given as Millicent and/or Menesenca. I have always been fascinated by the differences in her given name. Are the two names really representative of the name Millicent due to poor spelling, poor transcription, poor writing, etc.? Has anyone tried to look at the Soundex code for these two names? If I did it correctly, Millicent = M425 and Menesenca = M525. For the Soundex experts, the question is does this mean that the two names are really close to being the same? I eagerly await any comments or thoughts on this idea.
