Hi, there. Asa M. Hollenbeak was my great grandfather. I grew up in Pittville, and was surrounded by the many later family members of Benjamin Quincy and his wife Melinda. Their children were: Asa Manuel, Harriet, William Henry,Stephen, George, John Thomas, Hannah Linda, and James Arnet. I just returned last week from a road trip to Pittville, and have photographed all of the Hollenbeak headstones in the Pine Grove Cemetary where most are buried. (Beautiful spot!) The Fort Crook museum in Fall River has many artifacts, photos and misc junk from the family ranch. They also have a booklet published by Fort Crook Historical Society published in l977, which has all of the known details of the family dating to William Hollenbeak born in Connecticut in 1739, Married Amy Clark in 1767. Benjamin Q was his great grandson. Asa crossed the planes with his first wife, with which he had two sons: Harry and George. Asa and his first wife separated, and there is no mention of her in my book. He married Mary McClure in 1875. The book is called Pioneers of Yesteryears and has been reprinted and is available at the museum. Good Luck and let me know if you want copies of the photos of headstones. Yours, Lois Hollenbeak Millar |
