I'm from Albany Co. NY and my grate grandfather was a Houghtailing. My father said his family was scattered over the towns of Revina and New Scotland in Albany Co. and some were in Green Co. I am just getting intersted in looking up this side of the family. My grandmothers name was Ida Houghtailing who lived in Coyemans Hollow, Albany Co. Maybe this may help you.(as my father explained it during the Civil War the Houghtailing name was spelled differently on war records for seveleral of the clan so record searches are confussing)
