What a ninny - talk about immaculate conception!
To clear this up a couple of years further on - William Jellicoe was born about 1733 in Albrighton, Shropshire. His parents were Thomas Jellicoe (1702-1753) and Mary Price. William married Elizabeth 15th July 1759 at St. Bride's Fleet Street, London. I have seen a copy of the marriage License Allegation, dated 12 July 1759 and the Guildhall London confirmed the marriage but could not copy the document (too fragile)
I am working on the Jellicoes, Middletons and Ashdowns amongst others, with my cousin Mark Ashdown. If you subscribe to Ancestry.uk, you might like to check out his extensive Ashdown tree.
What we haven't figured out is why 2 nice Midlands England kids should get married in London. Did they elope? I cannot confirm any of their children and do not know if Elizabeth died young.
What have you found? Have you tripped over any Ashdowns?
