I am not avoiding any questions. I am merely pointing out that James was not a pretender to the throne but the deposed King. He was deposed because he told the English and Scottish Parliaments that as King he could do away with any laws he chose to. This was called The Dispensing Power and in England he had got the judges to declare that the King had such powers. To call James a pretender ignores British history. The English and Scottish parliaments which called on William were well within their rights as both countries had fought a very bloody war to ensure the rule of parliaments not Kings. Aye Malcolm |
