I just noticed this almost 5-year old message. My great grandparents were Owen Taft & Myrtle Isabelle (Tipton) Hill. They raised my mother, until O. T. died before she was a teenager, so mom heard lots of stories about life in Vermont and when all the family was homesteading land in Kansas. A few years ago, a cousin sent me pictures of the rock fence O. T. built around his claim. the barn he was re-roofing in 1919 and fell off and was badly hurt, prompting his selling the farm and moving to Arkansas in 1920, and a copy of the sale bill from the farm auction at that time. I've found people who might be kin, but no real proof.
