The letter concerning the portrait can be found in Notes and Queries dated 28th January, 1893. It was written by Edmund A. H. Lechmere. The house which Edmund Lechmere lived in was at Severn End, Hanley Castle, Worcestershire. It was this house which was burnt to the ground in 1896. I can only suggest that you contact a member of the Lechmere family still living in the area.
