Hi David, You can order the birth certificate for Harry over the internet at: http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/ This will give you the name of his Mom and Dad. I have found Harry and a brother, John, on the 1901 census for Edgbaston (near Birmingham) They are in a Children's Emmigration Home. It seems as though they may have been orphaned. On the web page for British Home Children, I hound Harry (called Henry) and his brother John and another Ludford child (I believe it's Edith Florence who was also in the Home)were sent to Canada in 1901 on board the SS Sicilian in care of the Middlemore Homes. http://www.collectionscanada.ca/archivianet/02011003_e.html If you would like to write to me at my email addy [mrsdief (at) earthlink (dot) net I can tell you how you should be able to get the records from the archives. The records will tell you about the childrens home life and how they ended up in the Middlemore Home. I am related to 7 British Home Children. I hope this is helpful to you Regards Pam B |
