I have in a book called Sargent, Nebraska on page 166 called C.B. Matton family. Charley and mary Roth Matton moved to Sargent, Nebraska in 1928. Here, after nearly three decades of farming south-east of town, they enjoyed thirty-four years of retirement, util passing away in 1962. Mary's parents, Jonas and Virginia (Eubanks)Roth, and three small sons. Clifford, Edward and William came by covered wagon from Paris, Illinois in 1879, to homestead eight miles south-east of Sargent. Other children, Dora, Mary, Nell, Hallie and Fred were born here. In 1891, the family moved to Gilliam, Montana. The three older sons found work, while the other childrens attended grade and high school. In 1896, they moved back to the homestead. The older sons married local girls, and became farmers. Dora began her teaching career at a school west of her home. Mary finished school at Sargent in the first graduating clas of 1901.
