Seeking ancestry of George McKay b 1809 in Aberdeen, Scotland and came to Nelson, N.B. He died in Nelson in 1892. George m Margaret Robertson in Scotland in 1833. This couple had 9 children: Isabella, William, Sarah, Margaret,Alexander, Mary Jane, Jessie, Eliza, and John Henry. I descend from William McKay. I found an Alexander Mackay who was b Aberdeen in 1833 and also arrived in Nelson where he was a farmer. He was appointed commissioner of native reserves in the South Island and later became Commissioner of native reserves for New Zealand. Does anyone have info on George's parents or know if George and Alexander McKay/Mackay were related? Also any info on Margaret Robertson's ancestry? I am also curious to know if the spellings of McKay/Mackay were of the same origin/ clan? Thanks, Linda
