Hello Cousin, Your Levi Mckay is brother to my Henry Taylor Mckay. I have a picture of him and his wife. I also have Levi married to a Pinkey Holderidge on 22 Jan 1893.His first wife Sarah Elsrada Clark had one son Thomas Mckay--any others? I go a ways back with this group. Levi's parents were Hugh Mckay b 1791 died 1867 and Martha Mckee b 1798 died 1870. Hugh Mckay's parents were William Mckay b 1758 SC d abt 1815 and Isabella b 1760 Sc and died 3 Feb 1841 Ala. WIlliams parents were Samuel MCkay b 1734 Scotland died 23 May 1817 Amite, Miss and Margaret Hamilton b 1735 Scotland died 17 JAn 1832 Amite Miss. Samuel's parents were Elijah Mckay b abt 1700 Scotland died in NC abt 1734 married to a lady with the last name Bond. Do you know if Samuel Fought in the civil war. I came across a story about how the Mckays arrived in Clay Ala. It mentions that Samuel fought in the Civil War. The only thing I found was an S Mckay that fought for the 8th cavalry regiment of confederate states. Also Levi's brother Samuel M Mckay b Dec 1861 married a Mary Haywood. I only have one son names JAmes Mckay b abt 1882. Do you have any info on this guy? I can go into more detail about the Mckays if you want. I'm not sure what you already have. I would like to find if more mckays fought in the civil war. I'm trying to put together a military history of the family. Mike |
