Dear Andrew: Was most interested to read your posting about the Poile surname. I have gone back as far as Samuel Poyl who married Mary Streeter in Beckley, Sussex (which is very close to Northiam) on May 7, 1728. They had the following children: Thomas - bpt. 9 April 1729 John - bpt. 10 October 1730 Elizabeth - bpt. 04 March 1734 Mary - bpt. 7 March 1736 Judith - bpt. 05 December 1737 Henry - bpt. 1 February 1740 - of whom I am a descendant Samuel - bpt. 10 October 1744 All of the above children were baptized in Beckley, Sussex.
