I am looking for any information on my great grandmother Louise Premo (1854-1921). Her husband's name was Alexander Socia (1850-1921). They are buried in St. Mary's cemetery in Baldwinsville, NY. I was always told that the Socias came from Brasher Falls, NY so Alexander & Louise could have come from there because they are the earliest ancestors in the Baldwinsville cemetery. Before this I was told that our ancestors came from Cornwall, Ontario, Canada. My father always told me that 5 or 6 generations back (I don't know if it was the Socia or Premo side) we had a Canadian Indian grandmother. He said her father was a chief & wore a ring in his nose. (But my parents also told us that the Indians brought my brother & they found my sister under a mayflower so I never put much store in the story.) Then sometime after my father's death, an elderly aunt showed me a picture of a Canadian Indian woman & said she was my 5th or 6th great grandmother & her father was a chief from the St. Regis reservation in Canada & wore a ring in his nose. I can't remember any more details and I have no idea where that picture may be now. That generation is all gone. Someone told me that the families were originally Acadian (from Nova Scotia) and that Socia was originally Saucier & Premo was originally Premeau. The problem is that I have nothing in writing & the only Premo name I have is Louise. I don't see a Louise mentioned in any of the messages here but if the name (or places) means anything to anyone, I would appreciate any information I can get. I'm really starting from scratch here. Thank you so much.
