That's where I got my start, but to answer some of your questions, here is what I found: information provided by Martha Ann McCorkle, 903 Prospect Way, Dalton Ga 30720-4969 ( this address also in the book). 1. RAINEY, Francis Born (possibly), 12 Oct 1733 in Surrey Co VA, Died 24 Feb 1804 in Mecklenburg Co VA. He married first Tottenberry, Mary Ann "Nanny", circa 1755 in Mecklenburg, Co VA, B in VA, D 09 Mar 1779 in Mecklenburg Co VA. Children: i. Rainey, Frederick ii Rainey, James Born in Mecklenburg Co VA, D 08 Nov 1773 in Mecklenburg Co VA. He married DAVIS, Mary. iii Rainey, Buckner. iv Rainey, Williamson v Rainey Dice. vi Rainey Drucillia "Cleor" vii Rainey Lucretia"Cresce" B in Mecklenburg Co VA. She married MALONE viii Rainey Sarah. She married STURDIVANT,??? Francis Rainey married, second, LAMBERT, Judith, 07 Jan 1797 in Mecklenburg Co VA, children: ix Rainey Betsy L, B circa 1798 in Mecklenburg Co VA x Rainey, Isaac, B circa 1800 in Mecklenburg Co VA These are children listed for Francis Rainey 1733. This numbering system is hard to make a connection as it is in the book; therefore the next list is for (not sure if this Dicey is the same Dicey listed as a child of Francis Rainey 1733 above), but I think it is. Dicey Rainey. She married Sturdivant, Randall, 27 May 1776 in Mecklenburg Co VA, B circa 1760, in VA, D 1816, in Jackson Co. Their children: i Sturdivant, Randolph Henry, B in Mecklenburg Co VA, D 1797 in Warren Co. Bute Co. NC ( yes that is the way it is listed) ii Sturdivant, Rebecca. Born in Mecklenburg Co.Va Died 9 May 1875 in Randolph Co. NC married John Prenell ii Sturdivant, John L. Born 15 Nov 1793 in Mecklenburg Co.Va Died 3 Aug 1866 in Boone Co. Ia married Green, Mary"P{olly" circa 1816 in Jackson Col Tn born 17 Nov 1792 in North Carolina Died 16 Jun 1889 in Douglas Twp., Boone Co NC.Next listing for Sturdivan i on page 35 of Rainey Times Vol 16 Oct 1999. "Amy" 20 Jan 1853, Boone Co IA viii Sturdivant, John George B 09 Nov 1836 in Clay IN, Died 28 May 1912 in Madrid, Boone Co IA, he married Zenor, Louisa Clay, 09 Jan 1862 in Boone Co IA ix Sturdivant, Nancy Ellen B 12 Mar 1839 in Clay IN, Died 30 Mar 1935 in Madrid, Boone Co IA, she married Lucas, Corydon L. 07 Feb 1862 in Madrid, Boone Co IA Evelyn, It looks as your Dicey Rainey d/o Francis Rainey 1733 was sister to Frederick Rainey b 1755. Frederick was father to my Reuben Morgan Rainey b 1777 in Mecklenburg Co. Va and married Catherine Cleaton. Reuben Morgan and catherine Cleaton had Thomas Frederick Rainey ,who had Virginia Lee rainey married George W. Chapman my ggrandfather. e-mail me if you want to chat. Daphne |
