Hello!

My name is Veronica Mehigan (maiden name Culbert).

My grandmother, Mary Langlois (eventually Culbert) of Boston Massachusetts, US, grew up in Stephenville Crossing, Newfoundland. Her maiden name was Langlois. Her father owned a schooner in St. John's and he sailed all the way from Newfoundland down to the Bahamas and West Indies (I recall some of his cargo was salt cod, and crackers and Newfoundland, for rum and molassas). They owned farm land and I remember her talking about their ponies.

I'm currently researching, but I recall many stories about her mother (my great grandmother) marrying a Redmond, after her father was killed in a ship, boiler explosion.

Anyone have the name Langlois/Redmond, mixed into their family tree?

When I was in high school (outside Boston), I met a Mark Redmond from Braintree MA, who, at the request of his family, asked me questions about my family, which I verified from my grandmother. It turned out that we were related! Unfortunately, I cannot recall the information, and I was too young to realize the importance of following up.

I'd love to learn more about my family and my Newfoundland roots, if anyone has any information.

Thanks very much!

Veronica
