Your Great Grandfather probably descends from Thomas Erastus Redmond who was in Iredell County in the late 1700s. Thomas was from the Chrlotte County, Virginia area and more than likely a grandson of William Redmond who was married to Sarah Dixon I am not realted to that line of Redmonds as their DNA results show them to be of Irish ancestry. (William's line that is). My line is of Portuguese Jewish/Berber ancestry. My ancestor, William Readman, was in SC census in 1790.
