Didn't know there were more Schneck's out there. I'm first gen American, my father's family comes from Bekescaba (pronounced: Bay-Kes-tchuh-buh), Hungary. Imigrated about 1952. I was told the Schneck name originated from a town in Galicia called SANOUK. In Austria/Hungary it became German/Hungarianized to: "SCHNECK". I asked a Pole if he was familiar with Sanouk, he told me "yeh, that's where they make the buses". I actually found it on a map. It's near the Hungarian border. Martin Schneck |
