William's father was James Franklin Snipes, b. abt 1838: 1860 Census, Chesterfield co., SC, Old Store P.O.1870 and 1880 Census Lancaster Co., SC gives us James F. Snipes but he is not in household in 1900 Census Lancaster Co., SC and 1910 Census Lancaster Co., SC. He probably died. William's mother was Elizabeth Haire, b. Aug 1844: The 1870 & 1880 census show her born about 1844. She was a widow in 1900 and 1910. Had 9 children and 6 were living in 1910. Information from 1900 & 1910 Census of Lancaster Co., SC The Census also showed living with her: a grandaughter Estelle Snipes born Dec 1893 in SC; two boarders Willis Snipes born Jan 1874 in SC; David Dock Snipes born Feb 26, 1876 in SC; and a niece "Ider hair" born in 1893 in SC.
