Bob: It has been quite a few years since you posted your message to this Forum. I hope you are still at the same email address. I have a copy of an old photo of Nevada Caledonia (aka Dona) Tannehill, daughter of Jessie Tannehill & Matilda McKenney. The person who sent me the photo said that Dona was teasingly called 'old squaw' and that she had some Native American ancestry. I have searched the McKenney side for some evidence of NA ancestry and found no hints of it. I am wondering if it could be from her Tannehill side. I also have wondered if she got the nickname because it was thought she "looked" NA. Dona's Tannehill ancestry would have been John & Phoebe Tannehill to Alfred Tannehill & Nancy Dalton all of Logan County, Kentucky and Jesse Tannehill & Matilda McKenney of Illinois and Missouri. The link that you have provided Ninian & Lillie Blackfish Tannehill is no longer working. I would be interested in reading of what is known. |
