I am a document trader & collector & recently purchased an original muster roll/pay document for Co. D of the NC 3rd Light Artillery which was formed on 9/21/1861 at Craven County, NC. Two of the soldiers on the roll have the last name of Tingle - Joseph B. & John W. Joseph B. Tingle was 49 years old when he enlisted and was mustered into Co. D on 9/28/1861 as a private. He died of disease on 7/17/1862 or 7/18/1862 at Ft. Fisher, N.C. John W. Tingle was 36 years old when he enlisted and was mustered into Co. D on 1/24/1862 as a private. He was taken POW on 1/15/1865 at Ft. Fisher and confined at Point Lookout, MD from where he was exchanged and paroled on 2/20/1865. He was hospitalized on 3/2/1865 at Richmond, VA. I am interested in additional information about any of the soldiers from this company and am glad to provide descendants pictures of the muster roll and to offer as much information as I have about it. The list below is the full list of all of the soldiers on the muster roll. Please let me know if you know anything about any of these soldiers.
