Gideon Gifford and Enos Locke. These men were brothers-in-law, both having married one of Abraham Goodall's daughters. In the late 1840's or about 1846, this same Gideon Gifford and Enos Locke built the old Bank of Hartsville building. Mrs Abraham Goodall lived in a weather-boarded log house. Next door to her was a lot on which Enos Locke and her daughter built a brick home. These were on the lot now occupied by the post office. The old Presbyterian church on the corner of River and Foxall Street was built by the same Gideon Gifford and Enos Locke in the year 1852. At this time period Trousdale Co., was part of Macon, Smith and Wilson Co. Looking for the names of the girls that these two married and the name of their mother. Also need to know the parents of Gideon Gifford and names of his children. |
