Patrick, what you said is so very true!
Before posting I double-checked my descents for Eleanor FitzHugh from King John's illegitimate daughter Joan and from Dermot MacMurrough. Sadly it looks like I made a mistake in identifying Maud de Furnival (wife of John 2nd Baron Marmion) as a daughter of Thomas 2nd Lord Furnival whereas she was more likely a daughter of his father, Thomas 1st Lord Furnival.
Unfortunately this cuts out the Verduns and Mortimers and means Eleanors descents from King John's illegitimate daughter Joan and from Dermot MacMurrough are null and void!
Sorry to have raised your hopes on this one. But if you let me know about any other lines of descent you'd like me to look into I'd be happy to help. Over the past few years I've built up a database containing over 60000 names, some of whom (including Pudseys) may be of interest to you.
Best wishes, John.
