August and Caroline (nee Ludwig) Uebel of Brandenberg Germany immigrated to the U.S. in 1858, with their two children--Minna Uebel and August C.F.Uebel. Caroline was pregnant at the time and delivered her baby on board the ship during the crossing. Caroline died during childbirth and was buried at sea. Her baby died 6 weeks later and was buried in the U.S.
August Uebel and his children settled in Buffalo Co., WI in the area of Yaeger Valley. August later married Amalie Ludwig. I don't know if she was a sister or relative of his first wife, but I suspect that may be so. He farmed in Yaeger Valley until moving to Winona, MN in his elder years. He died there on May 11, 1897.
Son, August C.F. Uebel married Martha Toskey June 5, 1879 and moved to Winona, MN in 1886. He was a "carriage maker" for 30 years and when the company disbanded, he worked with his youngest son in a meat market. He died in Cochrane, WI in 1926 his wife having died in 1923.
