In the Maryland Calendar of Wills, there is an abstract of Samuel's will, written December 29, 1687 and probated July 28, 1688 in Calvert County, Maryland. He mentioned his wife (abstracted incorrectly as "Mathew" when it should be Martha), mentioning tracts of land called "Gowlson's Inheritance" and "Veitch's Reste". The will mentions his son Samuel (only 1.5 years old, so likely born about June 1686) and his daughter Mary. He then refers to his "children", which could mean only Mary and baby Samuel or could include other children (i.e., Elizabeth, Martha, etc.). Witnesses to the will were John Smith, John Turner and John Pearce. The overseers were John Turner and Robert Day. Is the baby Samuel the same as the Samuel Vines who later appeared in North Carolina?
