I have a great-grand uncle named Daniel Eugene Wedge (later used Weage), born 1858 in Kinderhook, MI. He married Etta Parish 14 Nov 1880 and they had 2 children, Stanley E. b. 1889 and Hazel b. abt 1894. I don't have record of Lena but I have not found the 1900 or 1910 censuses for this family which could possible shed further light.

After the 1870 census (where everyone used the Wedge spelling) and by the 1880 census, it seems the whole Wedge family adopted the alternate spelling of Weage. Don't know why and probably never will. Only Daniel Eugene's father, Daniel, (my 2nd great-grandfather) retained the Wedge spelling.

Any of this sound familiar?
