According to Dan Chamness, who posts here, John C. was born May 23, 1836 in AL, and his parents were John? Chamness and Martha Underwood. John C married Mar 21,1855 in Benton, Calhoun Cou., AL and died Jan 23, 1881 in Ragland, St. Clair County, AL.
His wife was Sirene nee Duncan born Feb 4,1838 in Benton, Calhoun Cou. AL died Jan 22,1906 and is buried in the Macedonia Babtist Cemetery in Ragland, AL.
Their children were Ada, Mary Jane, Pinckney, Jefferson Davis, Amy/Irenie/Ary/Arrena, James W., Cordelia, Mary Magdalane, Lewis M., Minnie & Arch R. all born in AL. He has more detail on their births, spouses, etc., which he has kindly shared with me and I am working on putting my information together to add to his.
It's sure a lot more fun to work with others on this line, though.
