Seeking information on Lennis Chambliss who was born 3 Jan 1886 in Texas. Given name often spelled Lannus. Family oral history says he was shot & killed by a sheriff's posse in 1920 at Knight, Polk, Texas. His 12 Sep 1918 WWI Draft Registration Card contains the note: RIGHT HAND GONE. He lists his nearest relative as Lucy Chambliss in Knight, Texas. Unknown if this is spouse or mother of Lennis. Parents are believed to be William Henry Chambliss b abt 1850/51 and Lucinda 'Lucy' Westbrook. His known siblings are: Tom Chambliss b 4 Feb 1882, Texas, died 24 Oct 1926, Sourlake, Texas in oil fire, spouse: Ammie Greer, twin of Emmie Greer Clara Lee Chambliss b 8 Feb 1884, Knight, Polk, Texas, died 23 Nov 1973, Livingston, Polk, Texas, spouse: unknown, at time of death was listed as separated/divorced. There is much confusion researching this family. It appears there were at least 3 men in this part of Texas named William Henry Chambliss/Chambless who might be the head of this family. Additionally, it is not clear if Lucinda Chambliss who died 19 Sep 1928 in Farmington, New Mexico is the Lucinda Westbrook who was married to W.H. Chambliss. All assistance would be greatly appreciated. Regards, Karen Chambliss of California Notify Administrator about this message?
